RAR Extractor — Open RAR Files Online Without WinRAR

Open RAR 4 and RAR 5 archives without installing WinRAR — browse the folders, preview files and extract one, a selection or everything.

Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Open RAR 4 and RAR 5 archives in your browser and extract their contents — no WinRAR, no trial nag, no upload. Browse the folders, preview images and text, and download single files or everything as a ZIP.

This is also the quickest way to convert RAR to ZIP: open the RAR and press Extract all as ZIP.

Step by step

  1. Open the RAR file: Click the upload area or drag the file in. The list of files appears in a second or two — even archives with thousands of entries.
  2. Enter the password if asked: For a protected ZIP, type the password and press Unlock. A wrong password is caught straight away so you can try again.
  3. Browse and preview: Click a folder to open it, or use Search file names. The eye icon previews images and text files without extracting everything.
  4. Extract: Use the download icon for a single file, tick boxes and press Download selected, or press Extract all as ZIP to save everything with its folders intact.

Good to know

  • If a RAR is password-protected, open it with WinRAR or 7-Zip — RAR encryption isn’t supported in the browser.

  • Split archives (.part1.rar, .part2.rar…) must be joined on a computer first.

  • Prefer Unzip for ZIP files — it’s the same tool, just labelled for ZIPs.

Questions

Does it support RAR 5?

Yes — both the older RAR 4 format and RAR 5 (the default in WinRAR 5 and later) can be opened.

Can I open password-protected archives?

Password-protected ZIP files work — both the classic ZipCrypto and the stronger AES-256 encryption. Encrypted RAR and 7z archives can’t be opened in the browser, because the open-source reader doesn’t implement RAR or 7-Zip encryption; the tool tells you so instead of failing silently.

What about split archives like .part1.rar or .7z.001?

Multi-part archives need every part combined, which isn’t supported here. Join them on a computer with 7-Zip or WinRAR first.

Why are some files hidden?

Archives made on a Mac often contain __MACOSX folders, ._ files and .DS_Store — metadata that isn’t part of the real contents. They’re left out of the list and the count is shown.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is opened and processed by your browser on your own device — nothing is sent to a server, logged or stored. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool keeps working.
