Create ZIP File Online — Zip Files and Folders for Free
Pack files and whole folders into a ZIP with your choice of compression level, right in the browser. Free, no sign-up, and your files never leave your device.
Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Pack files — or whole folders, with their structure — into a single ZIP file in your browser. Choose how hard to compress, name the ZIP, and download it. Nothing leaves your device.
Step by step
- Add files: Drag files onto the upload area or click to choose them. Add more at any time.
- Add folders (optional): Press Add a folder to include a folder with all its sub-folders; the paths are kept inside the ZIP.
- Choose compression: Store is fastest (no compression), Fast and Normal balance speed and size, Best makes the smallest file.
- Create: Give the ZIP a name and press Create ZIP. The download starts when it’s ready, with the size saving shown.
Handy for
Emailing many files
Send one attachment instead of twenty.
Submitting assignments
Upload a whole project folder to a portal that accepts a single ZIP.
Sharing photos
Bundle an album into one download for family or clients.
Archiving
Keep a folder’s exact structure in one file for backup.
Good to know
Photos, videos, MP3s and PDFs are already compressed — they barely shrink, so Store saves time.
Text, code, CSV and Word/Excel files usually shrink a lot with Best.
If two files share a name, the second is renamed (e.g. “report (2).pdf”) so nothing is overwritten.
Questions
Can I add a password?
No. There’s no reliable open-source browser library that writes AES-encrypted ZIPs, and the older ZIP password scheme is easily broken, so it isn’t offered. For PDFs use Add Password.
Will the ZIP open on Windows and Mac?
Yes — it’s a standard ZIP that Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS open with their built-in tools.
Are file dates kept?
Yes, each file’s modified date is stored in the ZIP (dates before 1980, which ZIP can’t store, are set to today).
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is opened and processed by your browser on your own device — nothing is sent to a server, logged or stored. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool keeps working.
