Compress PDF to 100 KB — Free, No Upload
Compress PDF to 100 KB: shrink a PDF by downscaling and re-encoding its images, leaving text and fonts intact; can aim for a target size in KB.
Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Make a PDF smaller without turning it into a blurry picture. EasyConvert finds the photos and scans inside the file, downscales oversized ones and re-encodes them as efficient JPEGs. Text, fonts and vector drawings are left exactly as they were, so text stays crisp and selectable.
You can also give a target size in KB: if the chosen level doesn't get under it, stronger settings are tried automatically. Pages for common limits are available too, such as compress to 200 KB or compress to 1 MB.
Step by step
- Upload the PDF: Drop it on the upload area. Password-protected files will ask for the password.
- Choose a level: Light keeps the most detail, Medium is the best balance for most documents, Heavy gives the smallest files.
- Optionally set a target: Enter a size in Target size (KB, optional), e.g. 500.
- Compress: Click Compress PDF. Progress shows each image being optimised.
- Check the result: A message shows the old and new sizes. If no smaller version was possible, nothing is downloaded and you're told why.
Handy for
Email attachments
Get a scanned contract under a 10 MB or 25 MB attachment limit.
Government and job portals
Many forms cap uploads at 200 KB, 500 KB or 2 MB.
Phone photos turned into PDFs
Camera images are often far larger than needed for reading.
Archives
Save storage space on large collections of scanned paperwork.
Good to know
Compression works on images. A PDF that is mostly text and fonts is already compact and won't shrink much.
Compress once from the original. Re-compressing an already compressed file loses detail for little gain.
If you still can't reach a limit, split the file with Split to Size Limit.
Very small images such as icons are left alone, and an image is only replaced when the new version is clearly smaller.
Questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and processed by JavaScript running in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, and the result is created on your device.
Will my text become blurry?
No. Only images are re-encoded. Text and vector graphics are kept exactly as they are.
Why did my file barely shrink?
Most of its size is text, fonts or vector artwork, or its images are already well compressed. The tool reports this instead of producing a worse file.
What does the target size do?
If the result is above the target, each stronger level is tried in turn, up to Heavy and then an extra-strong setting. You get the smallest result, with a note if the target still wasn't reached.
Do images with transparency survive?
Yes. The transparency mask is kept as a separate part of the image and isn't changed.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has finished loading, processing happens locally, so a dropped connection won't interrupt a job that is already running.
