Convert Word (DOCX) to PDF on Your Own Device
Convert .docx files to PDF with text, lists, tables, images and page breaks, keeping the text selectable.
Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Turn .docx documents into PDFs inside your browser. Text, headings, lists and numbering, tables, images, colours and page breaks are carried over, and the text in the PDF stays real, selectable text. You can convert several documents in one go — each becomes its own PDF.
Old binary .doc files can't be read in a browser. Open them in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs and save as .docx first.
Step by step
- Add your documents: Drop one or more .docx files onto Upload Word documents.
- Choose the page size: Leave Page size on As in document to keep the size and margins set in Word, or pick A4, Letter, Legal, A3 or A5.
- Adjust orientation and margins: When you choose a size yourself, set Orientation and Margins (None, Narrow, Normal or Wide).
- Convert: Click Convert to PDF. Each document downloads as a PDF with the same name.
Handy for
Job applications
Send a CV or cover letter as a PDF so the layout can't shift on the recruiter's computer.
Contracts and letters
Share a final version that people can read but not casually edit.
Coursework
Submit assignments to portals that only accept PDF.
Sensitive documents
Convert HR or legal files without sending them to an online converter.
Good to know
Headers, footers and tracked changes are not included. Accept or reject changes in Word first, and add page numbers afterwards with Number Pages.
Fonts are matched to similar open fonts, so a document using unusual fonts may look slightly different.
Need to merge several converted documents into one? Use Merge PDF afterwards.
Questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and processed by JavaScript running in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, and the result is created on your device.
Is the text in the PDF selectable?
Yes. Text is placed as real text, not as a picture, so you can search, select and copy it. The exceptions are Devanagari, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and emoji characters, which are drawn as tiny images so they look right — those can't be selected.
Can I convert .doc files?
No — only .docx. Save older .doc files as .docx in any word processor first.
Why does my PDF look slightly different from Word?
Word documents don't carry their fonts, so similar open fonts are used. Spacing can shift a little, which may move a line or two to the next page.
