New Zealand public holidays for any year — Matariki, Mondayised Waitangi and Anzac days, regional anniversary days — with week numbers and a PDF calendar.
Matariki, the Māori New Year, became a public holiday in 2022 and moves each year; its dates are fixed in law in advance (Friday 10 July 2026, Friday 25 June 2027). Each province also has an anniversary day — Auckland’s is the Monday nearest 29 January, Wellington’s the Monday nearest 22 January, Canterbury’s the Friday of the Christchurch show.
Holidays per year, with how many fall on a weekday — 2026: New Zealand 11 (11 on weekdays) · 2027: New Zealand 11 (11 on weekdays).
Step by step
- Pick the year: Use the arrows or type any year from 1990 to 2100; the list for New Zealand updates as you type.
- Choose your anniversary region: “All anniversary regions” shows every regional holiday tagged with where it applies; pick one anniversary region to see only its days.
- Print the calendar: Choose the whole year on one page or a month per page, A4 or Letter, and weeks starting Monday or Sunday, then click Download PDF calendar.
- Add it to your calendar: Calendar file (.ics) imports the holidays as all-day events into Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar; Spreadsheet (.csv) opens in Excel or Numbers.

Good to know
New Zealand has 11 national public holidays plus a regional anniversary day. Waitangi Day and Anzac Day are “Mondayised” (moved to Monday for people who don’t work weekends) since 2014; New Year and Christmas holidays always are.
Each region also has an anniversary day. They are shown by the usual rule (e.g. the Monday nearest 29 January for Auckland); a few districts observe a different day.
Matariki dates are set in law in advance; this table has them for 2022–2030.
Count the days between two dates, minus these holidays, with the New Zealand working days calculator.

Questions
When is Matariki?
On a date set in law for each year. This calendar includes 2022–2030 — for example 10 July 2026, 25 June 2027 and 14 July 2028.
Is my anniversary day a public holiday?
Yes, in its own region. Choose your region to include it; a few districts observe a different date from the provincial rule, so check with your council if you’re unsure.
How far ahead and back does the New Zealand calendar go?
Any year from 1990 to 2100, worked out from the holiday rules — fixed dates, Easter, nth weekdays and the substitution rules — with known one-off holidays and start and end years applied. Dates a government proclaims each year can change, so check official sources for future years.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The holiday rules and every calculation run in your browser, and the PDF, calendar file and CSV are made on your device. Nothing you type — dates, extra days off — leaves it.
