Public holidays for every Australian state and territory — NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, ACT and NT — with additional days, week numbers and a PDF calendar.

Seven holidays are shared nationally: New Year’s Day, Australia Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day, Christmas and Boxing Day. The rest differ. Labour Day alone falls in March (WA, Victoria, and Tasmania’s Eight Hours Day), May (Queensland, and May Day in the NT) or October (NSW, the ACT and SA), and the King’s Birthday is in June everywhere except Queensland (October) and Western Australia (late September).

Holidays per year, with how many fall on a weekday — 2026: New South Wales 12 (8 on weekdays), Victoria 13 (10 on weekdays), Queensland 12 (8 on weekdays), Western Australia 11 (10 on weekdays) · 2027: New South Wales 12 (8 on weekdays), Victoria 13 (10 on weekdays), Queensland 12 (8 on weekdays), Western Australia 11 (10 on weekdays).

Step by step

  1. Pick the year: Use the arrows or type any year from 1990 to 2100; the list for Australia updates as you type.
  2. Choose your state or territory: “All states and territories” shows every regional holiday tagged with where it applies; pick one state or territory to see only its days.
  3. Print the calendar: Choose the whole year on one page or a month per page, A4 or Letter, and weeks starting Monday or Sunday, then click Download PDF calendar.
  4. Add it to your calendar: Calendar file (.ics) imports the holidays as all-day events into Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar; Spreadsheet (.csv) opens in Excel or Numbers.

Good to know

  • States and territories set most public holidays, and some (Victoria’s AFL Grand Final Friday, Western Australia’s King’s Birthday) are proclaimed each year — check the official list for future years.

  • When New Year’s Day, Australia Day, Christmas or Boxing Day falls on a weekend, the next weekday becomes an additional holiday. Anzac Day on a weekend gives the Monday in WA (and in the ACT when it is a Sunday).

  • Part-day holidays (Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve evenings in SA, NT and Queensland) and holidays for only part of a state (Hobart Regatta, Recreation Day, Bank Holiday in NSW) are listed but not counted as days off. Local show days are not included.

  • Count the days between two dates, minus these holidays, with the Australia working days calculator.

Questions

Why is the AFL Grand Final holiday an estimate in later years?

The Friday before the Grand Final is a Victorian public holiday set each year once the AFL fixes the date. Known dates are used up to 2026; after that the calendar assumes the last Saturday of September.

What happens when Anzac Day falls on a weekend?

In most states nothing moves. Western Australia gives the following Monday when it falls on a Saturday or Sunday (Monday 27 April 2026), and the ACT when it falls on a Sunday.

How far ahead and back does the Australia calendar go?

Any year from 1990 to 2100, worked out from the holiday rules — fixed dates, Easter, nth weekdays and the substitution rules — with known one-off holidays and start and end years applied. Dates a government proclaims each year can change, so check official sources for future years.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. The holiday rules and every calculation run in your browser, and the PDF, calendar file and CSV are made on your device. Nothing you type — dates, extra days off — leaves it.
