Count business days in Australia between two dates, or add business days to a date, leaving out weekends and the public holidays of your state or territory.
Additional days are counted: when Christmas falls on a Saturday, the following Monday and Tuesday are both public holidays everywhere. Melbourne Cup Day (Victoria) and Picnic Day (NT) are included; part-day holidays such as Christmas Eve from 7 pm in SA and the NT, and holidays for only part of Tasmania, are listed but not counted.
Working days in a whole year, Monday to Friday with public holidays removed — 2026: 253 in New South Wales, 251 in Victoria, 253 in Queensland, 251 in Western Australia · 2027: 253 in New South Wales, 251 in Victoria, 253 in Queensland, 251 in Western Australia.
Step by step
- Choose Australia and your state or territory: Australia is preselected; pick the state or territory whose holidays apply where you work.
- Enter the dates: For a count, pick the start and end dates and choose whether the end date counts. To find a deadline, switch to Add or subtract days and enter the number of working days.
- Set your week: Choose the weekend days (Saturday and Sunday by default) and type any extra days off — local holidays, a shutdown, leave — one per line.
- Check the holidays used: Under the result, every public holiday in the range is listed with whether it was a day off, on a weekend or counted as a working day.

Questions
Is the NSW Bank Holiday a day off?
Only for banks and some financial institutions. It’s listed on the first Monday of August but counted as a working day unless you tick the optional-holidays box.
How many working days are there in a year in Australia?
Counting Monday to Friday and removing public holidays — 2026: 253 in New South Wales, 251 in Victoria, 253 in Queensland, 251 in Western Australia · 2027: 253 in New South Wales, 251 in Victoria, 253 in Queensland, 251 in Western Australia. Extra days off you add come on top.
Is the start date counted?
When counting between two dates, the start date is always included and the end date only if “Include the end date” is ticked. When adding working days, the start date itself is not counted.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The holiday rules and every calculation run in your browser, and the PDF, calendar file and CSV are made on your device. Nothing you type — dates, extra days off — leaves it.
