Good Friday and 5 May count as working days unless you tick the optional-holidays box — turn it on if your cao gives them off. Easter Monday, Whit Monday, Ascension Day and King’s Day are days off for nearly everyone.
Working days in a whole year, Monday to Friday with public holidays removed — 2026: 255 in Netherlands · 2027: 256 in Netherlands.
Step by step
- Keep Netherlands selected: The Netherlands is preselected — you can switch to any other country in the list.
- Enter the dates: For a count, pick the start and end dates and choose whether the end date counts. To find a deadline, switch to Add or subtract days and enter the number of working days.
- Set your week: Choose the weekend days (Saturday and Sunday by default) and type any extra days off — local holidays, a shutdown, leave — one per line.
- Check the holidays used: Under the result, every public holiday in the range is listed with whether it was a day off, on a weekend or counted as a working day.

Questions
Do I get Liberation Day off?
By custom the national government and many cao’s give 5 May off every five years (2025, 2030, 2035). In other years it’s marked as not a general day off; tick the optional box if you have it.
How many working days are there in a year in the Netherlands?
Counting Monday to Friday and removing public holidays — 2026: 255 in Netherlands · 2027: 256 in Netherlands. Extra days off you add come on top.
Is the start date counted?
When counting between two dates, the start date is always included and the end date only if “Include the end date” is ticked. When adding working days, the start date itself is not counted.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The holiday rules and every calculation run in your browser, and the PDF, calendar file and CSV are made on your device. Nothing you type — dates, extra days off — leaves it.
