Work out working days in Ireland between two dates, or add working days to a date, leaving out weekends and the 10 Irish public holidays.

When a public holiday falls on a weekend — St Stephen’s Day on Saturday 26 December 2026, for example — banks and most employers take the next weekday off, and this calculator does the same. Strictly, the law entitles employees to a paid day off, an extra day of annual leave or an extra day’s pay, chosen by the employer.

Working days in a whole year, Monday to Friday with public holidays removed — 2026: 251 in Ireland · 2027: 251 in Ireland.

Step by step

  1. Keep Ireland selected: Ireland is preselected — you can switch to any other country in the list.
  2. Enter the dates: For a count, pick the start and end dates and choose whether the end date counts. To find a deadline, switch to Add or subtract days and enter the number of working days.
  3. Set your week: Choose the weekend days (Saturday and Sunday by default) and type any extra days off — local holidays, a shutdown, leave — one per line.
  4. Check the holidays used: Under the result, every public holiday in the range is listed with whether it was a day off, on a weekend or counted as a working day.

Questions

Are the holidays the same in Northern Ireland?

No. Northern Ireland follows UK bank holidays: it has Good Friday and the Battle of the Boyne but not St Brigid’s Day. Use the UK working days calculator and choose Northern Ireland.

How many working days are there in a year in Ireland?

Counting Monday to Friday and removing public holidays — 2026: 251 in Ireland · 2027: 251 in Ireland. Extra days off you add come on top.

Is the start date counted?

When counting between two dates, the start date is always included and the end date only if “Include the end date” is ticked. When adding working days, the start date itself is not counted.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. The holiday rules and every calculation run in your browser, and the PDF, calendar file and CSV are made on your device. Nothing you type — dates, extra days off — leaves it.
