Count business days in Canada between two dates, or add them to a date, skipping weekends and the stat holidays of your province or the Canada Labour Code.

When a holiday falls on a weekend, most employers and governments give the next working day instead (Boxing Day on Saturday 26 December 2026 becomes Monday 28 December), so those observed days count as days off. Quebec moves only 24 June and 1 July, and only when they fall on a Sunday.

Working days in a whole year, Monday to Friday with public holidays removed — 2026: 252 in Ontario, 253 in Quebec, 250 in British Columbia, 252 in Alberta, 251 in Federal · 2027: 252 in Ontario, 253 in Quebec, 250 in British Columbia, 252 in Alberta, 251 in Federal.

Step by step

  1. Choose Canada and your province: Canada is preselected; pick the province whose holidays apply where you work.
  2. Enter the dates: For a count, pick the start and end dates and choose whether the end date counts. To find a deadline, switch to Add or subtract days and enter the number of working days.
  3. Set your week: Choose the weekend days (Saturday and Sunday by default) and type any extra days off — local holidays, a shutdown, leave — one per line.
  4. Check the holidays used: Under the result, every public holiday in the range is listed with whether it was a day off, on a weekend or counted as a working day.

Questions

Which list applies to a federally regulated job?

Banks, airlines, telecoms, railways, Canada Post and other federally regulated workplaces follow the Canada Labour Code — choose “Federal”. It includes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on 30 September and Remembrance Day.

How many working days are there in a year in Canada?

Counting Monday to Friday and removing public holidays — 2026: 252 in Ontario, 253 in Quebec, 250 in British Columbia, 252 in Alberta, 251 in Federal · 2027: 252 in Ontario, 253 in Quebec, 250 in British Columbia, 252 in Alberta, 251 in Federal. Extra days off you add come on top.

Is the start date counted?

When counting between two dates, the start date is always included and the end date only if “Include the end date” is ticked. When adding working days, the start date itself is not counted.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. The holiday rules and every calculation run in your browser, and the PDF, calendar file and CSV are made on your device. Nothing you type — dates, extra days off — leaves it.
