Sign a PDF by Drawing or Typing Your Signature

Draw or type a signature and stamp it on the pages you list, in a corner or centred at the top or bottom.

Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Add a handwritten-style signature to a PDF without printing and scanning. Draw it with a mouse, trackpad or finger, or type your name and it is rendered in a cursive style. Choose which pages to sign and where on the page the signature goes.

This adds a visible signature image. It is not a cryptographic digital signature (the kind that uses a certificate to prove a file hasn't changed).

Step by step

  1. Upload the PDF: Choose the document you need to sign.
  2. Create your signature: Pick Draw and sign in the box, or Type and enter your name. Use Clear to start again.
  3. Choose pages: Enter pages in Pages, e.g. "1" or "3-5".
  4. Choose a position: Pick a corner or the centre of the top or bottom edge.
  5. Sign: Click Sign PDF. The file downloads with "-signed" in its name.

Good to know

  • For free placement anywhere on the page, use PDF Editor.

  • Draw slowly and fairly large in the box — it is scaled down on the page.

  • The typed style uses a cursive font installed on your device, so it looks slightly different on Mac and Windows.

  • Check whether the recipient needs a certificate-based digital signature; some legal and government processes do.

Questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read and processed by JavaScript running in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, and the result is created on your device.

Is an electronic signature like this legally valid?

In many countries simple electronic signatures are accepted for everyday agreements, but rules vary and some documents require a certified digital signature. Check what your recipient accepts.

Is my signature stored?

No. It exists only in the page while you use it and in the PDF you download.

How big will the signature be?

Up to 180 points wide (about 6.3 cm), or 35% of the page width on smaller pages.

Can I upload a photo of my signature?

Not in this tool. PDF Editor supports more signature options.
