Bank holidays for England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland in any year, with substitute days, ISO week numbers and a calendar to print or import.
England and Wales have eight bank holidays in a normal year, Scotland nine and Northern Ireland ten. Scotland swaps Easter Monday for 2 January and St Andrew’s Day (30 November) and has its summer bank holiday on the first Monday of August; Northern Ireland adds St Patrick’s Day and the Battle of the Boyne on 12 July. One-off days are included, such as the 2022 Platinum Jubilee and State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and the 2023 coronation.
Holidays per year, with how many fall on a weekday — 2026: England and Wales 8 (8 on weekdays), Scotland 9 (9 on weekdays), Northern Ireland 10 (10 on weekdays) · 2027: England and Wales 8 (8 on weekdays), Scotland 9 (9 on weekdays), Northern Ireland 10 (10 on weekdays).
Step by step
- Pick the year: Use the arrows or type any year from 1990 to 2100; the list for the United Kingdom updates as you type.
- Choose your nation: Pick one of the 3 nations — the list shows that nation’s days, substitute days included.
- Print the calendar: Choose the whole year on one page or a month per page, A4 or Letter, and weeks starting Monday or Sunday, then click Download PDF calendar.
- Add it to your calendar: Calendar file (.ics) imports the holidays as all-day events into Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar; Spreadsheet (.csv) opens in Excel or Numbers.

Good to know
Bank holidays differ between England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. When one falls on a weekend, the next weekday that is not already a bank holiday becomes a “substitute day”.
Scotland’s Easter Monday is not a bank holiday, and many Scottish towns set local holidays of their own.

Questions
What is a substitute day?
If a bank holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the next weekday that isn’t already a bank holiday becomes a substitute day. When Christmas and Boxing Day both fall on a weekend, as in 2027, the substitute days are Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December.
Do I have a legal right to bank holidays off?
No. There is no statutory right to time off on bank holidays, and employers may count them towards the 5.6 weeks of statutory annual leave. Most employers do close on them.
How far ahead and back does the United Kingdom calendar go?
Any year from 1990 to 2100, worked out from the holiday rules — fixed dates, Easter, nth weekdays and the substitution rules — with known one-off holidays and start and end years applied. Dates a government proclaims each year can change, so check official sources for future years.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The holiday rules and every calculation run in your browser, and the PDF, calendar file and CSV are made on your device. Nothing you type — dates, extra days off — leaves it.
