Portuguese public holidays (feriados nacionais) for any year — Freedom Day, Portugal Day and the four restored in 2016 — with week numbers and a PDF calendar.

Portugal has 13 national holidays, including Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Corpus Christi, Republic Day (5 October), All Saints’ Day and Restoration of Independence (1 December) were suspended from 2013 to 2015 and returned in 2016. Carnival is optional, and every municipality has its own holiday — 13 June in Lisbon, 24 June in Porto.

Holidays per year, with how many fall on a weekday — 2026: Portugal 14 (9 on weekdays) · 2027: Portugal 14 (8 on weekdays).

Step by step

  1. Pick the year: Use the arrows or type any year from 1990 to 2100; the list for Portugal updates as you type.
  2. Read the list: Each row shows the date, weekday, ISO week, the English and local name, and tags for substitute days or days that aren’t a general day off.
  3. Print the calendar: Choose the whole year on one page or a month per page, A4 or Letter, and weeks starting Monday or Sunday, then click Download PDF calendar.
  4. Add it to your calendar: Calendar file (.ics) imports the holidays as all-day events into Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar; Spreadsheet (.csv) opens in Excel or Numbers.

Good to know

  • Portugal has 13 national holidays (feriados), including Easter Sunday. Four of them (Corpus Christi, 5 October, 1 November, 1 December) were suspended in 2013–2015.

  • Carnival (Shrove Tuesday) is optional — the government usually gives civil servants the day — and each municipality has its own holiday; neither is counted as a day off.

  • Count the days between two dates, minus these holidays, with the Portugal working days calculator.

  • Want photos and your own events on a calendar? Use the Calendar Maker.

Questions

Is Carnival a holiday in Portugal?

Not by law. The government usually grants civil servants “tolerância de ponto” on Carnival Tuesday and many private employers follow, so it’s listed but not counted as a day off unless you choose.

How far ahead and back does the Portugal calendar go?

Any year from 1990 to 2100, worked out from the holiday rules — fixed dates, Easter, nth weekdays and the substitution rules — with known one-off holidays and start and end years applied. Dates a government proclaims each year can change, so check official sources for future years.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. The holiday rules and every calculation run in your browser, and the PDF, calendar file and CSV are made on your device. Nothing you type — dates, extra days off — leaves it.
