Generate pure test tones at any frequency from 1 Hz to 22 kHz in sine, square, sawtooth or triangle waveforms, frequency sweeps (linear or logarithmic), and white or pink noise. Play them live or download as WAV, MP3, M4A or OGG.

Please start at a low volume, especially with headphones — very high and very low frequencies can be hard to hear yet still harm hearing or speakers.

Step by step

  1. Choose a waveform: Pick Sine, Square, Sawtooth, Triangle, White noise or Pink noise.
  2. Set the frequency: Type a value, drag the slider, or click a preset like A4 tuning (440 Hz).
  3. Optional sweep: Tick Frequency sweep and set an end frequency.
  4. Set duration and volume: Enter the length in seconds and keep the volume low to start.
  5. Play or download: Click Play, or choose a format and click Download.

  • Logarithmic sweeps spend equal time on each octave, which matches how we hear.

  • Square and sawtooth waves sound much louder than sine waves at the same volume setting.

Questions

Why can't I hear very high frequencies?

Most adults can't hear above 15–17 kHz, and many speakers can't reproduce extreme lows or highs.

Are my audio files uploaded anywhere?

No. Decoding, editing and encoding all happen inside your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, and closing the tab discards everything you haven't downloaded.
