STL Viewer — View and Measure 3D Models Online
Open STL, OBJ, PLY and 3MF models in 3D, rotate and zoom, check dimensions, surface area and volume, and save a screenshot.
Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Open STL (ASCII or binary), OBJ, PLY and 3MF models in an interactive 3D view. Rotate, zoom and switch to wireframe, and get exact measurements: triangle count, size, surface area and volume — useful before 3D printing or quoting a print.
Step by step
- Open the model: Drop an .stl, .obj, .ply or .3mf file onto the upload area.
- Look around: Drag to rotate, scroll or pinch to zoom, right-drag to pan. Reset view brings it back.
- Set the units: STL files don’t store units — pick Millimetres, Centimetres or Inches to match how the model was made.
- Read the measurements: Size, area and volume update for the chosen unit; volume is also shown in cm³ (= ml).
- Save a picture: Press Screenshot to download the current view as a PNG.
Handy for
3D printing
Check a model’s size and volume before slicing or sending it to a print service.
Quotes and material estimates
Use the volume to estimate filament or resin.
Checking downloads
Preview models from Thingiverse-style sites before printing.
Sharing
Grab a clean screenshot for a report or listing.
Good to know
Most CAD and slicer exports use Z as “up”; turn off Z is up if the model lies on its side.
Volume is accurate for closed (watertight) models — the norm for printable files.
Wireframe helps spot dense or broken areas of the mesh.
Questions
Does it work without a graphics card?
It needs WebGL, which almost every device has. If it’s unavailable you’ll still get the measurements.
Can it repair or convert models?
Not yet — it’s a viewer and measuring tool.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is opened and processed by your browser on your own device — nothing is sent to a server, logged or stored. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool keeps working.
