Free Online Video Converter — MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV
Convert videos between MP4, WebM, MOV and MKV in your browser, choosing codec, quality and resolution.
Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Convert videos between MP4, WebM, MOV and MKV without uploading them. Pick the codec (H.264, VP9, AV1 and more, depending on your browser), the quality and a maximum resolution. When nothing needs to change except the container, the video is copied without re-encoding, so it's instant and lossless.
MP4 and MOV output defaults to H.264 for the widest compatibility.
Step by step
- Add a video: Drop an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV file onto the upload area, or click to browse.
- Pick the format: Choose MP4, WebM, MOV or MKV under Convert to.

Handy for
Phone videos for a PC
Convert iPhone MOV clips into MP4 for Windows or older software.
Smaller web video

Archiving

Good to know
AV1 gives the smallest files at the same quality but encodes more slowly and isn't supported by older devices.
Resolution presets never enlarge a smaller video.
For a specific file size (for email or chat apps), use Compress Video.
Questions
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The video is read, decoded and re-encoded inside your browser using its built-in WebCodecs encoders. Nothing is sent to a server, so private recordings stay on your device.
Which file types can I use?
MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM, MKV and MPEG-TS videos. Older formats such as AVI, WMV and FLV can't be read in the browser — you'll see a clear message if you try one.
Why is the conversion instant sometimes?
If the original codec is allowed in the new format and you don't change resolution or quality, the video and audio streams are copied into the new container without re-encoding.
Which browsers work?
Recent Chrome, Edge and Safari (17 or newer) work best. Firefox can read most files but may lack some encoders, such as H.264 — if a format isn't available, the tool says so before you start. Phones work too, but long or 4K videos can run out of memory.
How long does it take?
Copy-only jobs (changing the container, muting, fast rotation, most trims) take seconds. Re-encoding runs at roughly real time or faster on a modern laptop; 4K and long videos take longer. A progress bar shows how far along it is, and you can cancel at any time.
