Paste two versions of a text and the Text Diff Checker highlights exactly what changed. Compare by Lines, Words or Characters, view changes Side by side or Inline, and choose to Ignore whitespace or Ignore case.
Changed lines are paired up side by side, and the individual words that changed inside them are highlighted, so small edits are easy to spot.
Step by step
- Add both versions: Paste the older text into Original text and the newer one into Changed text — or use Upload file on each side.
- Choose how to compare: Under Compare by, pick Lines for documents and code, Words for prose, or Characters for short strings.
- Read the result: The summary shows how many lines, words or characters were added, removed and unchanged. Green marks new text, red marks removed text.
- Adjust: Tick Ignore whitespace or Ignore case to hide unimportant changes, or click Swap to reverse the two sides.
- Save: Click Download diff (.txt) for a plain-text copy of the changes.

Good to know
In the downloaded file, line diffs use “+” and “-” prefixes; word and character diffs mark additions as {+…+} and removals as [-…-].
Very different, very long texts can take too long to compare by characters — compare by lines instead.

Can I compare two files?
Yes — click Upload file above each box to load a text file into it.
What does “Ignore whitespace” do?
It treats changes in spaces and indentation as no change, which is useful when text has been reformatted.
Is there a size limit?
There’s no fixed limit, but very large texts with many differences may take a few seconds. If a comparison takes too long you’ll see a message suggesting line mode.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. Everything is processed by your browser on your own device — nothing you type or upload is sent to a server, so it is safe to use with private notes, drafts and work documents.
