Convert PDF to an Editable Word Document

Rebuild a PDF as an editable .docx with headings, lists, tables and images, or as page pictures for an exact look.

Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Turn a PDF into a Word document you can edit. In Editable text mode the converter rebuilds headings, paragraphs (with font, size, bold and italic), bullet and numbered lists, tables and images, with a page break between PDF pages. Exact look mode instead places each page as a high-resolution picture — identical in appearance, but not editable.

Step by step

  1. Upload the PDF: Password-protected files ask for the password first.
  2. Choose a mode: Editable text (recommended) or Exact look (page images).
  3. Pick pages: Leave Pages empty for all pages, or enter ranges like 1-3, 5.
  4. Convert: Click Convert to Word and open the .docx in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs.

Handy for

Good to know

  • Structure is rebuilt from text positions, so multi-column pages are read top to bottom and complex layouts may need touch-ups.

  • Text colour isn't carried over.

  • Scanned PDFs have no text to rebuild — run them through OCR PDF first.

Questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read and processed by JavaScript running in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, and the result is created on your device.

Will it look exactly like the PDF?

In Editable mode it will be close but not identical — Word reflows text. Use Exact look if appearance matters more than editing.

Are tables kept as tables?

Yes, when columns line up clearly. Merged or spanned cells aren't detected.

Are bold and italic preserved?

Yes, when the PDF's font names indicate them, which is the case for most documents.
