Some editors, samplers, CD-burning tools and phone systems need uncompressed WAV. This tool decodes MP3 into 16-bit or 24-bit PCM WAV in your browser. Note that WAV can't restore detail MP3 already removed — it just makes the audio easy for other software to work with.
Step by step
- Upload MP3 files: Drag MP3s onto the page or click to choose.
- Choose bit depth: Pick 16-bit (CD standard) or 24-bit under Bit depth.
- Set sample rate (optional): Choose 22.05, 32, 44.1 or 48 kHz under Sample rate. Most editors want 44.1 or 48 kHz; 22.05 kHz mono keeps spoken prompts small.
- Convert: Click Convert to WAV.
Handy for
Audio editing
Avoid repeated MP3 encoding while you edit.
Samplers & DJ gear
Many hardware samplers only load WAV.
IVR & phone systems
Produce mono WAV prompts for call systems.
Burning audio CDs
Disc-burning software often expects 44.1 kHz 16-bit WAV.
Good to know
Expect WAV files to be about ten times larger than the MP3.
Questions
Why is the WAV so big?
WAV stores every sample uncompressed: roughly 10 MB per minute of 44.1 kHz stereo at 16-bit.
Are my audio files uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding, editing and encoding all happen inside your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, and closing the tab discards everything you haven't downloaded.
