Change Audio Speed — Speed Up or Slow Down Without Changing Pitch
Speed up or slow down audio from 0.5× to 3×, keeping the original pitch or shifting it like a tape. Free, no sign-up, and your files never leave your device.
Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Speed up a lecture to save time, or slow down a song to learn it. Choose any speed from 0.5× to 3×. With Keep pitch the audio is time-stretched so voices don't sound like chipmunks; with Change pitch too it behaves like a tape or record played faster or slower.
Time-stretching uses a WSOLA algorithm that runs on your device. It sounds natural for speech and most music between 0.75× and 1.5×; extreme settings can sound slightly phasey.
Step by step
- Upload audio: Drop any audio file or video.
- Set the speed: Drag the Speed slider or click a preset like 1.25× or 0.75×. The new length is shown.
- Choose pitch behaviour: Select Keep pitch (time-stretch) or Change pitch too (like a tape).
- Preview: Click Preview first 15 seconds to hear the result.
- Download: Choose a format and click Download.
Handy for
Lectures & podcasts
Listen at 1.25–1.5× and save the faster version.
Learning music
Slow a solo to 0.75× without changing its key.
Transcription
Slow speech down for easier typing.
Creative effects
Use tape mode for “nightcore” or slowed-down edits of your own tracks.
Good to know
For speech, 1.25×–1.5× usually stays perfectly intelligible.
Tape mode at 2× raises pitch by exactly one octave.
Questions
Will the pitch change?
Not with Keep pitch — only the tempo changes. Choose Change pitch too if you want the pitch to rise and fall with the speed.
Can I change pitch without changing speed?
Not with this tool. Combining tape mode with an opposite time-stretch would do it, but that isn't offered as a single control yet.
Is there a length limit?
There's no fixed limit, but editing tools hold the decoded audio in memory — about 21 MB per minute of stereo sound (32-bit samples). An hour-long recording is fine on most computers; multi-hour files may be slow on phones.
Are my audio files uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding, editing and encoding all happen inside your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, and closing the tab discards everything you haven't downloaded.
