Paste HTML and get tidy Markdown: headings, bold and italic, links, images, lists, code blocks, strikethrough and tables are converted. Choose #-style or underlined headings and your preferred bullet character. Scripts and styles are removed first, and nothing on the page is run or loaded.

Step by step

  1. Paste HTML: Add it to the HTML box, or use Upload file for an .html file.
  2. Pick a style: Choose Headings (# Heading or Underlined) and Bullets (-, * or +).
  3. Tables and images: Tick Tables as Markdown tables to convert tables, or untick it to keep them as HTML. Untick Keep images to drop images.
  4. Copy: Click Copy or Download (.md) on the Markdown box.

Good to know

  • Tables with merged cells or nested tables are flattened to simple rows; the first row becomes the header.

  • Inline styles, classes and layout markup are dropped — Markdown only keeps structure.

Questions

Does it fetch a web page from a URL?

No. Browsers can’t load other sites’ pages directly, so copy the page’s HTML (e.g. with View Source) and paste it in.

Are scripts run?

No. The HTML is parsed in an inert document and scripts, styles and embedded frames are removed before converting.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. Everything is processed by your browser on your own device — nothing you type or upload is sent to a server, so it is safe to use with private notes, drafts and work documents.
