GIF supports simple animation and on/off transparency, but is limited to 256 colours per frame. PNG is lossless and supports transparency, which makes it ideal for screenshots, logos and graphics — but photos stay large.

PNG keeps GIF transparency and has no 256-colour limit for later edits. Animated GIFs can be split into one PNG per frame.

Step by step

  1. Add your images: Drop your GIF files on Upload GIF images, or click to browse. Other image types (PNG, JPG, HEIC, WebP, TIFF and more) are accepted too.
  2. Choose options: For animated GIFs choose First frame only or Every frame (ZIP).
  3. Convert: Click Convert to PNG. Each image is decoded and re-saved in your browser.
  4. Download: One image downloads straight away; several download together as a ZIP. You can also download any single result from the list underneath.

Questions

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your images never leave your device, and it keeps working offline once the page has loaded.

Can I convert several images at once?

Yes. Add as many images as you like. A single result downloads straight away; several results download together as a ZIP, and each one also has its own Download link in the results list.

Are frames complete or just the changed parts?

Complete. Each frame is rebuilt exactly as it appears when the GIF plays, not just the small patch stored in the file.
