Ask Questions about a PDF and Get Page References

Ask questions about a PDF and get answers with page numbers, on your device or via Gemini with your own key.

Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Ask questions about a PDF and get answers with the page numbers they came from. Two modes are available:

  • On-device (private) — finds the most relevant passages and extracts the exact answer, entirely on your device (about 90 MB of models download the first time). Best for factual questions: who, what, when, how much.
  • Gemini (your API key) — for explanations, summaries and reasoning. The document's text is sent to Google using your own key.

Step by step

  1. Upload the PDF: It needs a text layer; scans need Searchable PDF first.
  2. Choose a mode: On-device (private), or Gemini (your API key) and paste your key.
  3. Ask: Type into Ask a question about this PDF… and press Send.
  4. Check the source: Each answer lists the page or pages it came from — open them to verify.

Handy for

Contracts

Find notice periods, deadlines and payment terms.

Long reports

Locate a figure without reading 80 pages.

Policies and manuals

Look up what a policy says about a specific case.

Study

Quiz yourself on a textbook chapter.

Good to know

  • Ask specific questions — "What is the termination notice period?" works better than "Tell me about this."

  • If on-device mode isn't confident, it shows the most relevant passages instead of guessing.

  • Always verify important answers against the cited page.

Questions

Why does it download something the first time?

On-device AI needs a model file. It is downloaded once from a public model host, cached by your browser, and then runs locally — your document itself never leaves your device.

What happens if I choose Gemini?

The document's text and your request are sent from your browser directly to Google's Gemini API using your own API key, and are subject to Google's terms. Nothing goes through EasyConvert. The key is stored only in this browser. The default model is gemini-3.8-flash and you can change it.

Is on-device mode really private?

Yes. The document is indexed and searched in your browser; only the model files are downloaded.
