Step by step
- Upload a photo: Choose an image with a clear subject.
- Remove the background: Click Remove Background and wait a few seconds.
- Pick a new background: Keep it Transparent, choose a Colour, or upload an Image.
- Download: Click Download PNG (transparent) or Download Image.

The model is tuned for people; products, pets and objects can come out less cleanly.
Questions
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Every image is opened and processed inside your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, and closing the tab discards everything.
Which AI model is used?
MODNet (Apache-2.0), a portrait-matting model run with transformers.js in your browser. It works best on people.
Why is the first run slow?
The 26 MB model is downloaded the first time. After that it’s cached by your browser and starts quickly.
