Upscale Image — AI Image Enhancer (2× and 4×)
Enlarge small or blurry photos 2× or 4× with an on-device AI model that adds detail instead of just stretching pixels.
Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Enlarge small or low-resolution photos with an AI super-resolution model that reconstructs detail instead of simply stretching pixels. Choose 2× for clean images or 4× for blurry, heavily compressed JPEGs. Everything runs on your device.
Step by step
- Upload an image: Small images process fastest: up to about 2000 px with a graphics card, or about 480 px (2×) and 240 px (4×) on the processor alone.
- Choose the enlargement: 2× (sharp) or 4× (for low-quality JPEGs).
- Upscale: Click Upscale. The model downloads once (about 54 MB with a graphics card, 21 MB otherwise), then the image is processed in tiles.
- Compare and save: Check the before/after view; the enlarged image downloads automatically.
Handy for
Old photos
Enlarge small scans or early digital photos.
Web images
Get a sharper version of a small picture for printing.
Thumbnails
Increase the resolution of small graphics.
Compressed images
Clean up blocky JPEG artefacts while enlarging (4×).
Good to know
Without a WebGPU-capable browser, processing runs on your processor and large images can take many minutes — try a crop of the important area first.
AI enhancement invents plausible detail; it can’t recover information that isn’t there (e.g. unreadable text).
Questions
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Every image is opened and processed inside your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, and closing the tab discards everything.
Which model is used?
Swin2SR (Apache-2.0), converted for the browser. The 2× model is trained on clean images; the 4× model on compressed JPEGs.
Why is it slow?
Super-resolution is heavy maths done on your device rather than a server. Browsers with WebGPU use your graphics card (a 640 px photo takes well under a minute on a modern laptop); without it, a smaller 8-bit model runs on the processor and is much slower, so start with small images.
