Have a PDF Read Aloud to You
Read a PDF aloud with your device's built-in voices, choosing voice, speed and pages while sentences highlight.
Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Have a PDF read to you using your device's built-in voices. Choose a voice, speed and pitch, pick pages, and follow along as the current sentence is highlighted — click any sentence to start reading from there.
Listening uses the voices built into your device and browser, so available languages depend on your device. There is no audio download: browsers can't record their built-in voices, and the offline voice models available today don't allow free commercial use.
Step by step
- Upload the PDF: It needs a text layer.
- Choose a voice: Pick from Voice — voices come from your device and browser.
- Adjust: Set Speed (0.5× to 2×), Pitch and Pages.
- Listen: Press Play, Pause or Stop, or click a sentence to jump to it.

Good to know
Available voices differ between devices; Chrome, Edge and Safari offer the most.
Headers, footers and page numbers are read too — limit Pages to skip covers and appendices.
Scanned PDFs need Searchable PDF first.
Questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and processed by JavaScript running in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, and the result is created on your device.
Can I download the audio?
No. Browsers don't let websites record their built-in voices, and we don't bundle a voice model because the good offline ones don't allow free commercial use. You can record the playback with your computer's own audio recorder.
