MP4 to MP3 Converter — Free, No Upload
Extract the audio from MP4 videos as MP3 files, choosing the bitrate. Free, no sign-up, and your files never leave your device.
Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Save the soundtrack of an MP4 video as an MP3. Choose a bitrate from 96 to 320 kbps. The audio is decoded and encoded on your device — MP3 encoding uses a WebAssembly build of the LAME encoder when your browser has no native MP3 encoder.
You can also save M4A, WAV or OGG from the same screen.
Step by step
- Add your MP4: Drop the video onto the upload area. Files without an audio track are flagged.
- Keep MP3 selected: Or switch to M4A (AAC), WAV or OGG (Opus).
- Choose a bitrate: 192 kbps is a good default; 320 kbps for music, 96–128 kbps for speech.
- Extract: Click Extract MP3. The audio file downloads and plays in a preview.
Handy for
Podcasts and talks
Listen to a recorded talk without the video.
Music practice
Pull the audio from a performance recording.
Transcription
Create an audio file for a transcription tool such as Audio to PDF.
Voice notes
Keep just the sound from a screen recording.
Good to know
Re-encoding can't add quality: if the video's audio is 128 kbps, choosing 320 kbps only makes the file bigger.
Questions
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The video is read, decoded and re-encoded inside your browser using its built-in WebCodecs encoders. Nothing is sent to a server, so private recordings stay on your device.
Can I convert other video formats to MP3?
Yes — MOV, WebM and MKV work too. See Extract Audio from Video.
Which browsers work?
Recent Chrome, Edge and Safari (17 or newer) work best. Firefox can read most files but may lack some encoders, such as H.264 — if a format isn't available, the tool says so before you start. Phones work too, but long or 4K videos can run out of memory.
