Online Keyboard Tester — Test Every Key
Press keys to see which ones register, check key codes and test how many keys work at once. Free, no sign-up, and your files never leave your device.
Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Press keys to see them light up on an on-screen keyboard, with each key’s event.key and event.code values. Keys you’ve tested stay shaded, and a counter shows how many keys you can hold at once (ghosting test).
Step by step
- Focus the test area: Click the keyboard area (or Tab to it).
- Press keys: Each key lights up while held and stays shaded once tested.
- Check key details: The panel shows event.key, event.code, the legacy keyCode and location.
- Test ghosting: Hold several keys together and watch Most keys held at once.
Handy for
New or used keyboards
Check every key works before you buy or return.
After spills
Find keys that no longer register.
Gaming

Developers
Look up key codes for shortcuts.
Good to know
Some keys (Fn and system shortcuts like Win/⌘ combinations) never reach web pages, so they can’t be tested here.
Questions
Does it work with non-US layouts?
Yes. The on-screen layout is US QWERTY, but physical key positions are reported the same way on other layouts.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. Every calculation runs in your browser, so the numbers you type never leave your device. The page keeps working offline once it has loaded.
