Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Every image is opened and processed inside your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, and closing the tab discards everything.
Why is the file a PNG?
The corners outside the circle are transparent, which only PNG (or WebP) can store. JPG would fill them with a colour.
