Send Files Straight from One Device to Another
Send files of any type straight to another device over encrypted WebRTC using a link or QR code. Free, no sign-up, and your files never leave your device.
Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Send files of any type straight from one browser to another, with no upload to a server. Create a share link, open it (or scan the QR code) on the other device, and the files travel over an encrypted WebRTC connection. Each file is checked with SHA-256 on arrival and saved automatically.
The connection handshake — an anonymous peer ID and network addresses — goes through the public PeerJS signalling server, which never sees file names or contents. When the two networks can't connect directly, the encrypted data is passed through PeerJS's public relay (TURN) server, which can't read it.
Step by step
- Choose files: Add the files you want to send.
- Create the link: Click Create Share Link. Copy the link or show the QR code.
- Open it on the other device: The receiver opens the link; the transfer starts once they connect.
- Wait for verification: Each file shows progress and is marked delivered and verified on your side.
Handy for
Phone to laptop
Move photos or documents without cables or cloud accounts.
Large files
Send files that are too big for email.
Sensitive documents
Share without leaving a copy on a third-party server.
Across the room
Hand a file to a colleague by QR code.
Good to know
Keep both tabs open until the transfer finishes.
Each file is held in memory on both devices, so very large files need enough free RAM.
On strict corporate or mobile networks a direct connection often isn't possible; the transfer then goes through a relay server, which is slower. If it still won't start, try another network.
Questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. File data is sent between the two browsers over an end-to-end encrypted connection — directly when possible, otherwise through a relay server that can't read it. It is never stored on a server.
Is the transfer encrypted?
Yes. WebRTC data channels are always encrypted, and each file's SHA-256 hash is checked on arrival.
Is there a size limit?
No fixed limit, but both devices must have enough memory to hold the file.
