MB to GB Converter — Decimal and Binary

MB to GB Converter: convert bytes, KB, MB, GB and TB and see decimal and binary (KiB, MiB, GiB) values side by side.

Free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Convert bytes, KB, MB, GB and TB, and see the decimal (1 KB = 1000 bytes) and binary (1 KiB = 1024 bytes) values side by side. This explains why a “1 TB” drive shows about 931 GB in Windows.

Step by step

  1. Enter a size: Type a number in Size.
  2. Choose its unit: Pick the unit in Unit — for example GB, or GiB if your source uses binary units.
  3. Read the table: The table shows the size in every decimal unit next to the matching binary unit.
  4. Copy bytes: The large result shows the exact number of bytes and bits, with a Copy button.

Handy for

Upload limits

Check whether a file fits a limit quoted in MB.

Drive capacity

Understand why storage shows less space than advertised.

Data plans

Convert mobile data allowances between MB and GB.

Developers

Translate between MiB in code and MB in documentation.

Good to know

  • Network speeds are in bits: 100 Mbps is 12.5 MB per second.

  • Windows labels binary units “KB/MB/GB”; macOS uses decimal units.

Questions

Is 1 GB 1000 MB or 1024 MB?

Officially 1 GB = 1000 MB and 1 GiB = 1024 MiB. Many apps still say “GB” when they mean GiB, which is why both columns are shown.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. Every calculation runs in your browser, so the numbers you type never leave your device. The page keeps working offline once it has loaded.
