You control the separator, whether numbers are written as shown in Excel or as raw values, the date format, and whether the file gets a UTF-8 marker so Excel reopens ₹, € and accented letters correctly.

Step by step

  1. Upload the workbook: Click Upload a spreadsheet.
  2. Pick the sheet: Under Sheet, choose one sheet or All sheets (one CSV each, in a ZIP). A preview shows the first rows of a single sheet.
  3. Set the format: Choose the Separator, Numbers (as shown, e.g. 1,234.50, or raw, e.g. 1234.5) and Dates (ISO 2024-03-31 or as shown).
  4. Download: Click Convert to CSV.

Good to know

  • Formulas are exported as their last calculated values — the same numbers you see in Excel.

  • Choose Raw values when a program will read the numbers; choose As shown for people.

  • Untick the UTF-8 marker only if the receiving system complains about an invisible character at the start of the file.

Questions

Do I lose formatting?

CSV is plain text, so colours, fonts, charts and merged-cell layout can’t be stored. All cell values are kept.

Can I convert a password-protected workbook?

No — remove the password in Excel first. The tool tells you when a file is protected.

Why does the date have no time?

Times are included only when a cell actually has a time of day; plain dates are written as YYYY-MM-DD.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Every conversion runs inside your browser on your own device. Your files are never sent to a server, so confidential spreadsheets, contracts and photos stay private.
